Economic growth is the foundation of wealth. However, growth has
often come at the expense of climatic change and environmental
strain. Danish companies are world leaders in technology and
innovation related to supporting growth while reducing the negative
climatic and environmental effects.
On a global scale we are witnessing a growing conscience of the
magnitude of the problem. At the same time we are seeing a growing
recognition that green growth is a important source of future
economic growth and prosperity. Therefore, Denmark may not be able
to maintain its competitive edge given the global
competition.
For some time FORA has carried out analyses that outline how the
Danish business community prosper by focusing on
environmentally-effective solutions. The purpose of FORA's work is
to build a solid platform for further developing and adapting
business policy to allow Danish industries to maintain it strong
position in green growth.
FORA has produced a Green Paper on the proliferation of green
business models in the Nordic Region. The most common models
have been mapped and 25 companies and 5 experts have been
interviewed on the economic and environmental advantages, potential
barriers and driving forces of green business models as well as
recommendations from companies and experts for policy initiatives
that may promote the use of green business models in the
region.
